Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Grand Rapids Rampage look to win their first-ever game on the West Coast as they travel to take on the San Jose SaberCats on Saturday (May 19) beginning at 10:30 p.m. EDT. The Western Division-leading SaberCats boast a 7-3 record this season, including a perfect 5-0 mark at home.

Last week, Grand Rapids failed to come away with its second straight victory, dropping a 59-56 road decision to the Columbus Destroyers. The Destroyers defense made two key second-quarter defensive stops and collected a timely net recovery to build a 21-point lead after three quarters. The Rampage launched an impressive fourth-quarter rally, but fell just short.

Timon Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica), Grand Rapids' leading receiver and kick return man, logged yet another impressive game, making five touchdown receptions and earning Offensive Player of the Game honors. His 285 all-purpose yards marked his third highest total of the season, and gave him his eighth 200-plus all-purpose yards performance in 10 games this season.

The Rampage added two key players this week, signing quarterback Adrian McPherson (Bradenton, Fla.) and receiver/defensive back Cornelius Bonner (Gaffney, S.C.). McPherson, the AFL's 2004 Rookie of the Year, started eight of nine games played this season with the Austin Wranglers, and provides a superior backup option for Rampage starting quarterback Chad Salisbury (Perryopolis, Pa.). Meanwhile, Bonner will help shore up both Grand Rapids' receiving and secondary corps, which have been decimated by injuries this season. Bonner ranked second on Nashville through 11 games this season with 65 receptions for 968 yards and 18 touchdowns, all career highs.

Rampage fans can hear every snap beginning at 10:30 p.m. EDT with play-by-play voice Joe Parson on WBFX 101.3 or at RampageFootball.com.
