Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
Grand Rapids Rampage quarterback Chad Salisbury completed 6-of-10 for 87 yards and a TD, while Jose Davis was 7-of-11 for 140 yards and three scores against the Kansas City Brigade in the Rampage's first of two scrimmages this training camp. Timon Marshall grabbed two TDs (9 & 45 yards), Travis Burns (37) and Anthony Hines (24) each had one score. The Rampage defense forced two turnovers.
The controlled scrimmage featured each team's offense taking ten snaps then switching sides for 60 total plays between the teams. There were no kickoffs, extra points or field goals during the scrimmage. All drives started at the offense's five-yard line.
Kansas City began the scrimmage at their own five-yard line and failed to get a first down in their first series. On their second series, Andy Kelly tossed a 45-yard touchdown strike. Their third series ended on the tenth overall play when Marvin Taylor broke up a would-be touchdown in the endzone.
Salisbury drove the Rampage down the field on a six-play drive culminating in a 24-yard score to Anthony Hines. The team's second series started great with back-to-back 19-yard completions to Hines and Chris Ryan before the team's tenth play ended their drive at the Brigade three-yard line despite the team having a second and goal situation.
After two Brigade drives, one for a score, Jose Davis entered the game for the Rampage and drove Grand Rapids on three drives with touchdown strikes of 37, 9 and 45 yards.
The Rampage defense recovered two fumbles on the Brigade's final ten snaps - one by Tim Martin and the other by Alex Bell. However, due to the nature of the scrimmage, the turnovers did not result in a change of possession. The Rampage offense fumbled once.
Rookie QB Mark Radlinski came in for the scrimmage's final three plays and completed 2-of-3 for 24 yards.
Grand Rapids returns to the practice fields at the Soccer Spot in Kentwood on Wednesday for four days of practice before traveling to San Jose, California to have two days of shared practices and a scrimmage with the SaberCats.
