Cedar Rapids Rampage News Release
Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Rampage announced this afternoon the creation of Rampage United, an outdoor soccer team that will begin play this summer as a member of the Premier League of America (PLA), a twelve-team soccer league based around the Great Lakes region of the United States.
"When the Rampage indoor season ends, the Rampage United season starts kicking up," team co-owner and general manager Chris Kokalis reflected. "Now we're able to provide Eastern Iowa soccer fans soccer matches nearly every month of the year."
The PLA is a part of the United States Adult Soccer Association and qualifies teams for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, an annual tournament that features teams from Major League Soccer, United Soccer Leagues, North America Soccer League among others. Member teams of the PLA include Aurora Borealis SC (Aurora, IL), Carpathia FC (Sterling Heights, MI), Croatian Eagles SC (Franklin, WI), Madison 56ers (Madison, WI), Milwaukee Bavarians (Glendale, WI), Minnesota United FC Reserves (Woodbury, MN), Minneapolis City SC (Minneapolis, MN), Oakland County FC (Rochester, MI), Ole SC (Wyoming, MI), RWB Adria (Chicago, IL), and Toledo United FC (Maumee, OH).
Rampage United will be coached by Cedar Rapids Rampage forward Hewerton Moreira. In the inaugural season for the Cedar Rapids Rampage, Hewerton led the team in points scored, finishing the 2015/16 seasons with 13 goals and 29 assists. Moreira was atop the MASL in assists this past season. In addition to coaching Rampage United, Moreira is also the Head Coach for Milwaukee Area Technical College in Milwaukee, WI.
The Rampage United season will kick off in May. Rampage United will play eight home matches, all being located at Clark Field, located on the beautiful campus of Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Season tickets are on sale now starting at $56 and can be purchased at cedarrapidsrampage.com. The club plans to release the team's inaugural season schedule next week.
