
MASL Announces Playoff Schedule

CARLSBAD, Calif. (March 2, 2016) "" The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today the schedule for the first round of the 2016 Ron Newman Cup Playoffs. All teams will play a home-and-away series throughout the postseason with a fifteen-minute mini game following game two if needed.
The playoffs will begin tonight as the Tacoma Stars host the San Diego Sockers at ShoWare Center.
All four Division Champions (Soles de Sonora, Missouri Comets, Las Vegas Legends, and Baltimore Blast) will enjoy a bye during the first round as all No. 2 and No. 3 seeded teams square off to determine the Divisional Rounds.
Final Seeding:
1 - Sonora 7 - Milwaukee
2 - Missouri 8 - Tacoma
3 - Baltimore 9 - Baja
4 - Las Vegas 10 - Syracuse
5 - Chicago 11 - Detroit
6 - San Diego 12 - Brownsville
Mini Game Rules:
If the series is tied after the second game, there will be a third "mini game", which will be treated as an entirely new game. The first period of the "mini-game" will be a full 15 minute period. New lineups will be submitted just like the start of a new game. If tied after the 1st full 15-minute period, additional overtime periods of 10-minutes "golden goal" periods will be played. The mini game will begin 15 minutes after the conclusion of the prior game. Accumulated time penalties and fouls will not carry over from the prior game to the mini game with the exception of red cards. A player issued a red card in the prior game will be suspended for the mini-game. Teams will be permitted two (2) 60-second timeouts per mini-game. There will be no media timeouts. Each period will be treated as a quarter in regards to player foul accumulation. If a player accumulates 4 fouls in two periods the penalty is a 2-minute power play.

Chicago Mustangs (No. 2) at Milwaukee Wave (No. 3) "" Saturday, March 5th at 6:05 p.m. CT
Milwaukee Wave (No. 3) at Chicago Mustangs (No. 2) "" Sunday, March 6th at 3:05 p.m. CT
Winner faces Missouri Comets (No. 1) for Division Championship.
Southwest Division
Atletico Baja (No. 2) at Brownsville Barracudas (No. 3) "" Friday, March 4th at 7:35 p.m. CT
Brownsville Barracudas (No. 3) at Atletico Baja (No. 2) "" Sunday, March 6th at 5:05 p.m. PT
Winer faces Las Vegas Legends (No. 1) for Division Championship
Eastern Division
Waza Flo (No. 3) at Syracuse Silver Knights (No. 2) "" Saturday, March 5th at 7:05 p.m. ET*
* One-game series due to arena availability. In case the score is tied at the end of four quarters, additional overtime periods of ten minutes "golden goal" periods will be played. The game will not be determined by a shootout.
Winner faces Baltimore Blast (No. 1) for Division Championship.*
