Raley Returns to I-Cubs

Des Moines, IA - The Chicago Cubs optioned LHP Brooks Raley to the Iowa Cubs today. Raley is scheduled to start tonight against the Omaha Storm Chasers at Principal Park. LHP Jeff Antigua and RHP Larry Suarez also join the I-Cubs today, and will be active for tonight's game. Alex Burnett has been placed on the disabled list with a right elbow strain.

Raley was recalled from Iowa on Wednesday but did not appear in a game with Chicago. The left-hander is 5-4 with a 4.92 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) for Iowa this season. His only relief appearance was on May 16 where he pitched three scoreless innings in relief of Matt Garza.

Raley made his major league debut with Chicago on August 7, 2012 and finished the season with the Cubs. He was 1-2 with a 8.14 ERA (22ER/24.1IP) in five starts getting his only win on August 18 at Cincinnati.

Antigua returns to Iowa from single-A Kane County. He hasn't made an appearance with the Cougars since leaving the I-Cubs on June 10. Antigua pitched seven innings of relief over three games for the I-Cubs from June 1-8. He was 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA during the span.

Suarez has no record and a 3.60 ERA (2ER/5.0IP) in four games for Daytona this season from May 28-June 12. He has never appeared in a game for Iowa.

Burnett is 1-0 with a 8.10 ERA (3ER/3.1IP) in three relief outings with the I-Cubs since joining the team on June 3.

The Cubs host the Omaha Storm Chasers tonight at 7:05 at Principal Park. It is the first game of a 10-game home stand over eight days for the Cubs. Raley will be opposed by LH Ryan Verdugo (2-3, 4.23 ERA) for Omaha. The gates will open at 5:35. Tonight's game will be broadcast live on AM 940 and streamed live at iowacubs.com with the On-Deck Circle Pre-Game Show starting at 6:45. There will be fireworks following the game.
