
Rainmen Win Home Opener

(Halifax, NS) Despite missing leading scorer Eddie Smith to a knee injury, the Halifax Rainmen won their home opener 105 - 96 Saturday night at the Halifax Metro Centre in front of 3,261 fans.
The Rainmen left their shooting woes on the road, as they shot 52% from the field in the first half, including five-for-five from beyond the arc.
Rainmen Head Coach Cliff Levingston preached the team to push the ball up the floor quickly, resulting in the Rainmen scoring the majority of their first quarter points in transition.
The Rainmen controlled the boards in the first half 30 - 17 but double digit turnovers kept the Mill Rats in the game, trailing 53 - 52 at the half.
Throughout the second half, the Rainmen continued to pound the ball inside to Brandon Robinson, who had a game high 27 points.
Halifax began to cut down the turnovers while continuing to control the boards pushing the lead to ten with fewer than four minutes remaining in the game.
Saint John had six players in double figures but couldn't match Halifax's post presence getting out rebounded 63 - 32.
Leading scorers for Saint John, Jerice Crouch 18, Antonio Burks 16pts and PJ Young with 15 points.
Halifax Rainmen were led by Brandon Robinsons game high 27 points and 12 rebounds followed by Joey Haywood's 15 and Hillary Haley with 14 points.
The Rainmen look to extend their two game winning streak Sunday, November 11th at home against the Moncton Miracles. Tip-off is at 2pm.
