December 13, 2011 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Halifax Rainmen News Release
(Halifax, NS) This afternoon the Halifax Rainmen acquired 6'9'', 230-pound Canadian Centre, Troy Gottselig, from the Summerside Storm in exchange for the Rainmen's first and third round picks in the 2012 NBL Canada draft.
"Troy is an athletic player who will help us on the boards and give us a great inside presence," said Halifax Rainmen President & CEO, Andre Levingston, "He will give us the added muscle we need on the defensive end of the court, and will also give us an offensive presence on the block."
During the Rainmen's October 23 pre-season home game against the Storm, Gottselig scored 22 points against the Halifax team.
Prior to his career with NBL Canada, Gottselig enjoyed a tremendous career at the University of Saskatchewan, where he helped lead his team to the CIS National Championship in 2010. During the Championship, Gottselig earned the honour of MVP after scoring 22 points in the finals against the UBC Thunderbirds.
The Rainmen have also placed 6'9''centre Abdullahi Kuso on injured reserve after he suffered a torn tendon in his finger during Saturday night's game against the Quebec Kebs. Kuso has received surgery on his injury and is expected to return to the roster sometime in January.
The Rainmen will play their next game this Thursday in Summerside, and will return to the Metro Centre on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. where they will host the Oshawa Power.
