Tucson Padres News Release

Tacoma's bullpen contained multiple late-inning Tucson rallies, helping the Rainiers hold on to a 6-4 win Thursday at Kino Stadium. The Padres loaded the bases in the seventh inning and James Darnell stung a line drive to left field, but Johan Limonta made a leaping catch to preserve the lead. Anthony Contreras led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a single but the Padres did not score, falling Thursday and losing the series two games to one.

Thursday's game showed offense early, as both teams scored three times in the first inning, with all runs coming with two outs. The Padres had three straight, two-out RBI hits in the first by James Darnell, Sawyer Carroll and Vince Belnome. Carroll was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for the T-Pads.

Jorge Reyes pitched 5.1 innings for the Padres, allowing six runs, all earned. The Padres bullpen was strong, with both Cory Burns and Alex Hinshaw pitching scoreless outings. Hinshaw struck out three batters in a row in the eighth inning.
