Salem RidgeYaks News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Salem Avalanche, Class A-Advanced Affiliate of the Houston Astros, saw its game Thursday night against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans postponed due to rain.
Persistent rain throughout the area forced the game's postponement just after 7:00 PM. Thursday's game was the second to be postponed for the Avalanche in the second half.
The contest will be made up as part of a double-header Friday evening beginning at 6:05 PM. Both games will play seven innings. Righty Chad Wagler will start game one for Salem in just his third appearance of 2008. The pitcher is just off his second stint on the DL this season. Wagler will be opposed by Pelican's righty Ryne Reynoso.
Game two will feature Salem left-hander Sergio Severino against Myrtle Beach hurler Kyle Cofield. It is scheduled to follow a half hour after game one's completion.
