SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The strong threat of heavy rain in the Southaven area this weekend has caused the Mississippi RiverKings Hockey Club to postpone the scheduled litter cleanup of U.S. Highway 51 for two weeks.

The event, part of the RiverKings community service efforts through the MDOT's "Adopt A Highway" Program, was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 1st. It will now be held on Saturday, May 15th, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 12 Noon.

Participants will gather in front of the DeSoto Civic Center's west entrance at 8:00 AM for morning coffee and doughnuts, followed by the group walking along Highway 51 between Church Road and Starlanding Road, collecting highway litter to make the roadway more attractive for those who drive along it.

Following the completion of the effort, those who take part are invited for a noon time grill out lunch to show appreciation for their involvement.

Volunteers are still needed to take part in this opportunity to join the RiverKings in improving this small part of North Mississippi. For more information, contact Whitley Rives in the RiverKings' office at 662-342-1755.

Season tickets are on sale for the upcoming season of RiverKings' hockey, the team's 19th year providing affordable pro sports entertainment in the Mid-South. For more information, call the RiverKings at 662-342-1755 or go online to www.riverkings.com today!
