RailRiders Win Big Over Elmira

After being shutout on Tuesday, the RailRiders' bats woke up in a big way on Wednesday, beating the Pioneers 10-0. The Riders had 12 hits from 7 different players and a strong starting pitching performance in the win.

Victor got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd when Tommy Wagner reached on a walk and Brady Acker reached on a fielder's choice. Mark Cardinalli then hit a 2 run home run in just his second plate appearance of the season to put the Riders up 2-0.

The RailRiders got 5 more runs in the very next inning to pad their lead. 3 Victor natives singled in a row (Pete Carrier, Dale Wickham, Tommy Wagner) to make the score 3-0. Brock Daniels singled home Wickham and Wagner, and an E6 brought home Cardinalli, who walked earlier in the inning. The 5th run of the inning was scored when pitcher Jared Proctor balked in Daniels.

Victor scored their final 3 runs of the game in 6th when Wagner and Acker started off the inning with a pair of singles. Cardinalli immediately followed with a double that brought them both in. Cardinalli would come around to score later in the inning on a Aaron Endres single.

Starting pitcher John Saviano was dominant in the RailRider win. He brought a no hitter into the 8th inning and had a final line of 8 strikeouts, 1 hit, and 0 runs over 7.1 innings.

Acker, Cardinalli, and Daniels all finished with 2 hits while Cardinalli had 4 RBI's and 3 Runs scored. Tommy Wagner had 3 hits and 2 runs.

The RailRiders return to action on Thursday as they travel to Adirondack to take on the TrailBlazers at 7:00.
