Victor RailRiders News Release

Scoring for both teams opened up in the second inning in game one. The Stallions were able to score when Dylan Sprague (Fairleigh Dickinson University) walked, stole second, and then attempted to steal third. On the attempt, the catcher threw the ball into left field and Dylan was able to jog home.

Victor got in right back in the bottom of the inning when Mark Cardinalli (U.C. Davis) walked and advanced to second on an Evan Fernandez (Jacksonville University) single. Drew Kissel (St. Catherines College) was then able to lay down a bunt, which was promptly thrown into shallow left field by the pitcher trying to throw out Cardinalli at third. Cardinalli was able to core on the play and tie the score.

Victor would then take the lead in the third when Dale Wickham (Cornell University) doubled, Tommy Wagner (Cornell) bunted him over, and Matt Fallon (Black Hawk College) scored him on a sac fly.

The RailRiders would 3 more runs in the very next inning to extend their lead to 5-1. Fernandez doubled and stole third to start off the inning. Kissel immediately drove him in with a single before scoring after a Chris Introcaso (College of St. Rose) single and error on the center fielder. Introcaso would then score on a Joe Simmons (St. John Fisher College) single.

After scoring twice in the 5th, the Stallions were held scoreless for the next two innings by Mark Giallanzo (Herkimer College) in the 6th and Chris Kemp (Indiana University South East) in the 7th.

Luke Tomczyk (Monroe C.C.) earned the win for the Riders after going 5.0 innings and giving up 2 earned runs.

Evan Fernandez finished 3-3 while Chris Introcaso was 2-3; each finished with a run scored.

Game 2 was not quite as close of a game as the score may lead you to believe. Victor won this game 11-7 and really dominated the last 4 innings of the game.

The RailRiders scored one run in each of the first two innings before exploding for 6 runs in the bottom of the 4th and 3 more in the 5th. The Stallions made it close however after scoring 3 runs in both the 5th and 6th before being shut down on the 7th.

Dale Wickham and Chris Lehane (Jacksonville University) were both 3-4 with 2 runs scored while Lehane added 2 RBI's.

Cardinalli and Fernandez were both 2-3, Cardinalli had 3 RBI's while Fernandez had 2.

Nolan Shultz (University of Rochester) and Chris Kemp (who played first base in the second game) each added a hit as well.

Jesse Bogacz earned his 3rd win of the summer after going 5.0 innings and giving up 3 earned runs.

Dylan Swetman (Le Moyne College) pitched a scoreless 7th inning for the Riders.

These two teams will meet up once more before the end of the season in Victor on July 24th.
