Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
Gary, Ind.-The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club announced today that pitcher Jarod Brown has been placed on irrevocable waivers.
Brown pitched in 10 games with the RailCats, all out of the bullpen, and posted a record of 1-0 with a 10.13 earned run average. He allowed 15 runs in 13 and one-third innings.
Brown has not been replaced on the roster, leaving the RailCats with 21 active players (one below the league limit). If Brown is replaced on the roster, he must be replaced with a player classified as a "rookie" in accordance with Northern League rules.
The RailCats also have two players currently on the disabled list. Both players, Travis Kerber and Steve Edsall, are eligible to come off the disabled list at any time. Kerber is expected to return to action later this week while Edsall is approximately one week away from being ready to pitch. Edsall is classified as a rookie while Kerber is not.
The RailCats host Schaumburg in a three game series Tuesday-Thursday at U. S. Steel Yard. All three games start at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, call (219) 882-BALL.
The RailCats are 17-6 on the season and reside in first place in the Northern League South Division with a six game lead over Schaumburg.
