Gary, Ind.-The 2005 Northern League Champion Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club today announced the signing of rookie pitcher Ned Schauff. RailCats manager Greg Tagert made the announcement.
Schauff completed his college career at Illinois State University in 2005, posting a record of 5-4 with a 4.33 earned run average. He led the Redbirds in games pitched (16) and games started (13).
Prior to attending Illinois State, Schauff played at Illinois Valley Community College, where he posted a career record of 18-1 over two seasons to become school's all-time winningest pitcher.
Schauff, 23, is a native of Cassville, Wisconsin. He played high school baseball for his father (Roger) at Cassville High School, where his team won the state championship his junior season.
The RailCats begin defense of their Northern League championship on May 18th at Calgary. They open their home season on May 26th vs. Schaumburg at U. S. Steel Yard.
