Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide walk off with a come from behind victory against the Martha's Vineyard Sharks (1-2) 6-5 at The Ballpark, improving to 3-1 on the season. Mekae Hyde (Lewiston, ME/ Bates) drove in Brian Doran (Ayr, ONT, CA/ University of Maine) from second with a line drive to left field to seal the win in the bottom of the ninth.

The Sharks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, as they combined for two hits, while walking three times. The Tide responded in the bottom of the second to score their first run of the contest on a Shane Bussey (Boynton Beach, FL/ University of Maine) ground out that brought home Fran Whitten (Westborough, MA/ University of Maine) from third.

Martha's Vineyard added one in the fourth with a Nick Sell (Wexford, PA/ Seton Hill) single that plated home Joe Coyne (Duxbury, MA/ Saint Joseph's College). The away side looked to pull the game out of reach in the top of the seventh, as Kevin Foley (Southbury, CT/ Wheaton) had a sacrifice fly to center that drove home Sell from third and gave the Sharks a 5-1 cushion.

OOB cut the deficit in the bottom of the seventh to 5-3 on a single by Matt Pagano (Cranston, RI/ Marist) and an error by the Sharks first basemen that drove in Graham McIntire (Concord, NH/ Marist). Singles by Aaron Wilson (Windsor, CT/ Hartford) and Bussey in the top of the eighth would tie the ball game at five a piece.

Tyler Pogmore (Lebanon, CT/ Roger Williams) came in for relief in the top of the ninth to shut down the Sharks offense, striking out two.

Two walks in the bottom of the ninth inning would give the Raging Tide a runner in scoring position to set up the walk off shot by Hyde to seal the dramatic 6-5 win.

Pogmore was credited with the victory, while Michael Franzese (Anaheim Hills, CA/ Golden West College) pitched 4.1 innings of relief, striking out four and yielding one hit.

Mike McFerran (Albany, NY/ SUNY Oneonta) was charged with the loss for the Sharks giving up the Hyde hit, while striking out one.

Pagano went 2-5 with one RBI for OOB, hitting safely in all four games thus far on the season.

The Raging Tide will return to The Ballpark tomorrow as they take on defending FCBL Champion Nashua Silver Knights for a 7pm start.
