OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide fall in extra innings to the North Shore Navigators Thursday night. The Navs were able to push across a run in the top of the 12th, giving them a league leading ninth win of the season, 5-4 edge over the Tide.
Tim Hendricks (Mundelein, Ill. / Benedictine University) led off the twelfth inning with a double to the left center gap, and he would later score on a sacrifice fly from teammate Ryan Muno (La Quinta, CA / San Diego State University) to deep right field that resulted in the deciding factor.
The Raging Tide were able to squander seven hits of their own, as Tucker White (Deerfield, N.H./ University of Southern Maine) led the Tide with a 3 for 3 performance with 2 runs. Colin Gay (Franklin, Mass. / University of Maine) gave the Tide an early lead in the bottom of the third when he smacked a 2 run triple to the wall in right center. The Tide would build a 4-1 lead through five innings, but the lead was erased when North Shore plated three runs of their own in the top half of the 7th to tie the game. The game remained tied at four until the twelfth.
For the Navigators, starter Joe Gruntkosky (Peabody, Mass. / Saint Joseph's College of Maine) lasted 5.2 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits. He struck out six, and walked two.
For the Tide, Dillon Ryan (Haverhill, Mass. / UMASS Lowell) went five frames, allowing just one unearned run on four hits. He struck out three and walked two.
