Rage Prepare To Head To Wichita

ST. CHARLES, MISSOURI: The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team will take their undefeated 3-0 record on the road on Saturday, April 11th when the battle the 0-2 Wichita Wild. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. The Rage won their home opener on Saturday, April 4th 59-20 over the Saginaw Sting. Including the upcoming game against Wichita, RiverCity will have played three of their first four games on the road.

The Rage is led on offense by new quarterback Ben Sankey, who made his first start of the year last week against the Sting. Sankey played the first half of the game, going 12-of-16 for 144 yards passing and four scores. Maurice Avery has been on fire in the early going, leading the team this season in receptions (18), yards (218), and touchdown catches (6). The Rage is averaging 52 points and 238 yards of total offense per game this year. They have outscored their opponents 156-85 in three games.

On defense, the Rage has been led by linebacker Joe Bevis and defensive end Xzavie Jackson. Bevis, the defensive player of the year last year for the entire league, leads the team with 18.5 tackles. Jackson has been the big man off the edge for the Rage this year and has recorded a team-leading 3.5 sacks and eleven total tackles. As a team, RiverCity has limited their three opponents to an average of 157 yards and 28 points per game.

The Wild are 0-2 on the season after tough losses to the Omaha Beef on the road on March 20 (41-36) and at home last week to the Sioux Falls Storm (45-41). They have lost their two games by a combined score of nine points.

The Wild are led on offense by quarterback Derek Rasmussen, who is 32-of-65 for 434 yards passing and six touchdowns. Clinton Soloman has 17 catches for 310 yards and five touchdowns and Darius Fudge has 61 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the ground.

After their meeting with Wichita on the road, the team will return home for the first of four home games at the Family Arena in St. Charles. The team will welcome the Wild to town, for their second home game of the year on Saturday, April 18th at 7:30pm. The first 1,000 fans, ten-years of age or younger through the doors at the Family Arena will receive a 2009 RiverCity Rage Youth Replica Jersey.
