Rage Home Opener on Oct. 22 Features Clash with the Eagles

July 24, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage begin their third season at Broomfield Event Center on Oct. 22 when they renew on-ice hostilities with their Front Range rivals the Colorado Eagles. The team's entire 2008-09 Central Hockey League regular season schedule is attached.

Rocky Mountain actually begins the season on the road for the third consecutive year, traveling to South Texas to open the campaign on Oct. 17 and 18 against the Laredo Bucks and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, respectively.

After a fairly even split between home and road games through the New Year, the Rage's 64-game schedule then turns into either feast or famine for the next two months. The club is slated to play 12 of 13 games at Broomfield Event Center during a three-week stretch in January, which includes a franchise-long eight-game home stand from Jan. 11 - 25. The team's previous high for an extended stay at home was limited to just four games.

Following the long stint at home, Rocky Mountain then hits the road for 12 of 13, including a franchise-tying seven-game trek from Jan. 28 - Feb. 13. The month of February features just one game at the BEC, a Feb. 15 tilt against the Mississippi RiverKings.

Despite the early clash against the Eagles during the Rage's home opener on Oct. 22, the bulk of the rivals' 11 meetings occur at the end of the season with six of Rocky Mountain's final 13 games coming against Colorado.

Next to the Eagles, the Rage play their other Northwest Division foes most often with nine games against the expansion Rapid City (S.D.) Rush and eight dates with the Wichita Thunder. Rocky Mountain plays every club in the 16-team CHL during the regular season except for the Texas Brahmas.
