The Burlington Indians bid farewell to the "Voice of the B-Tribe" this week, as radio play-by-play man Adam Pohl accepted a similiar position with the Salem (VA) Avalanche of the Carolina League.

"Adam's a great broadcaster, and a fun guy to have around. We're going to miss him," said Indians General Manager Mark Cryan, "but this is a great opportunity for him."

Adam Pohl, 25, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Pohl had served two seasons as the Indians Director of Broadcasting. Pohl has an extensive background in radio broadcasting, including stints with the Tar Heel Sports Network, Greensboro College, and WIZS 1450 AM. The avid Tar Heel fan got his first taste of baseball broadcasting with the Asheboro Copperheads of the Coastal Plains League in 2001.

Avalanche V.P./G.M. Jamie Toole is thrilled to hire Pohl and adds, "Adam is an enthusiastic young man with a passion for baseball and I think that will be reflected in his broadcasts."

The Indians expect to announce their on-air staff later in the spring. The full 2005 season, home and road, will once again be broadcast on "Your Hometown Station," WBAG 1150 AM.

The Indians 20th season will begin with an exhibition game against the Kernersville Bulldogs on Saturday, June 18 at 7 PM.
