
Radio America Returns for Eighth Season as Spanish-Language Radio Partner With D.C. United

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 9, 2005) - D.C. United announced today that Radio America (WACA 1540 AM) has been named the club's official Spanish-language radio partner for the 2005 season, the eighth season the popular station will carry United matches. As part of the agreement, all 32 United regular season games will be broadcast live on Radio America, while 25 matches will also be heard on Radio Universal 1460 AM, 1600 AM and 1350 AM. Radio America can be heard over the Internet at www.radioamerica.net "We are pleased once again to partner with Radio America to continue our unique partnership and expand coverage of D.C. United broadcasts in the Washington metropolitan area and make our matches available to our Hispanic fans in their native language," said United Vice President Stephen Zack. "We are very excited that for the eighth consecutive year, we will carry all D.C. United games live for the Hispanic community," added Radio America President Alejandro Carrasco. "We take great pride in the fact that this season we are able to expand our network to four radio stations." Radio personality Danilo Noel Dirón, a native of Uruguay who hosts "La Mesa Redonda del Fútbol" (Round Table), a daily soccer-only show, will again be the primary personality on WACA's United broadcasts, providing the color commentary. Dirón will be joined in the booth by long-time Washington area broadcasting fixture and El Salvador native Herbert Baires, who will handle the play-by-play duties for the seventh consecutive season. Wilson Romero, a panelist on La Mesa Redonda del Fútbol, will be the sideline reporter.
