
Quinnell Becomes Franchise's First Slammer

PELHAM, AL â At a press conference held at the Pelham Civic Complex today, team President Taylor Hall formally introduced defenseman Bobby Quinnell as the franchises 1st ever player.
Quinnell, a five year professional hockey veteran, began his professional career playing for the Corpus Christi IceRays of the Western Professional Hockey League where he recorded 41 points in 62 games and was recognized as the Team's Rookie of the Year. During his second season with the IceRays, Bobby led the league in defenseman scoring points per game recording 59 points in just 47 games and went on to become the IceRays all time leading scoring defenseman.
Bobby's success in Corpus Christi earned him three stints in the International Hockey League where he played for the Las Vegas Thunder, Long Beach IceDogs, and the Utah Grizzlies.
"Bobby is a very skilled defenseman that is capable of changing the outcome of the game with his offensive playmaking, said Slammers Head Coach, Garry Unger. A player with Bobby's experience will provide tremendous leadership for our team both on and off the ice. He will be one of the premier defenseman in the WHA2 this season."
Quinnell spent most of the last three years playing in Europe including a season in the Australian Elite League where he was 2nd leading scorer on his team and 5th highest scoring defenseman in the league recording 36 points in 36 games.
Bobby returned back to North America at the end of last season to join the Quad City Mallards of the United Hockey League where he helped the team to an appearance in the United Hockey League Championships.
In addition to his professional career, Quinnell spent four years playing for the Division 1 Brown Bears at Brown University where he double majored in economics and business management and was Academic All Ivy & Academic All American.
