Miami Manatees News Release
Metal Blade Records is getting ready to rock with the Miami Manatees for their inaugural season in the WHA2. Metal Blade Record's music will rock the fans in the seats, while the Manatee players roll over the opposing team on the ice.
As the Manatees take to the ice for opening warm-ups, they will be skating to music from Metal Blade Record's extensive roster of bands. In addition, Manatee player introductions and the goal celebration will be cheered by the fans to custom recorded music from Metal Blade Records.
"I am really excited to be involved with the Manatees and hockey in South Florida. We really feel that metal music is a great way to get fans pumped up and energized about the game." Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel said.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1981, Metal Blade Records hit the scene by putting out a compilation CD with music from bands such as Ratt, Black âN' Blue, and a group that was formed by a drummer named Lars Ulrich specifically to be included on that CD. That band was called Metallica.
Over the next 21 years, Metal Blade Records signed, produced, and distributed some of the biggest up and coming names in metal music, such as Metallica, Slayer, Flotsam and Jetsam, GWAR, and many more. Branching out into other musical realms as well, Metal Blade Records scored big when their artist "The Goo Goo Dolls" had their album "A Boy Named Goo" go triple platinum in 1995.
"Brian Slagel and Metal Blade Records has been a huge supporter of minor-league hockey, and we are very excited to have him as a partner in the WHA2 and with the Miami Manatees" said Manatees GM Shawn Thorimbert.
The Miami Manatees will face off against the Lakeland Loggerheads, Jacksonville Barracudas, Orlando Seals, Alabama Slammers, and the Macon Trax beginning November 8 at Miami Arena.
Season Tickets for the Miami Manatees are now on sale. For further information, please contact the Manatees at (305) 536-PUCK (7825) or visit www.miamimanatees.com.
