Queensbury native begins pro career with Frostbite

Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Frostbite, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), today signed defenseman Ryan Bennett, it was announced by Frostbite Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Marc Potvin. This will be Bennett's first full season of professional hockey after playing with Adirondack for three games last year. As per team policy, terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.

Bennett, 22, finished up his collegiate career last season with the University of Nebraska-Omaha, before joining Adirondack where he had two assists in his three games. With Nebraska-Omaha, the Queensbury, NY native had three points (2g, 1a) in three games. Prior to playing in Nebraska, Bennett skated at Lake Superior State University having an assist in 15 games.

"We're looking for Ryan to be a quality first year player who fits in nicely on our team. During college he was in a strong program at Nebraska-Omaha where he was well coached." said Potvin. "I also am proud to sign a player who grew up and learned how to play hockey in the Glens Falls area. I hope this is his first step in a long and prosperous career."

Bennett had his best chance to prove himself in the United States Hockey League (USHL), with the Des-Moines Buccaneers and Omaha Lancers. Over a three year span the 6'0'' 210-pounder tallied 107 points (54g, 53a) in 145 games, while making the playoffs each of those seasons.

Bennett is the 14th player to sign with the Frostbite for the 2004-05 season. He joins forwards Hugo Belanger, Frank Littlejohn, Trevor Segstro, David Burgess, Sylvain Cloutier, Kevin Taylor and Nick Burnatowski, defensemen Neil Wilkinson, Scott Drevitch, Kamil Kuriplach, Steve O'Rourke and Henrik Bergfors and goalie Derek Gustafson.

Season Tickets for the 2004-05 season are on sale now at the Frostbite front office located at the Glen Street entrance of the Glens Falls Civic Center. Tickets may be purchased at the office from 9AM to 6PM Monday through Thursday and from 9AM to 5PM Friday or by calling 926-PUCK. Also, UHL All-Star Classic Tickets are on sale to season ticket holders now at the Frostbite office or by calling 926-PUCK. Individual game tickets and All-Star tickets go on sale to the public October 2nd at 10am.
