Quakes Suffer Second Straight Set-Back

Lancaster, CA - The Quakes suffered their second straight defeat on Thursday night, as the Lancaster JetHawks routed Rancho 10-3 at The Hangar in Lancaster.

JetHawks' starter Jose Trinidad pitched seven scoreless innings and seven different JetHawks knocked in a run, as Lancaster took the opening game of the three-game set.

Lancaster scored three in the first against Quakes' starter Andres Santiago setting the tone for the rest of the evening. Erik Castro put the JetHawks on the board with a two-run blast to left-center, his 11th of the year, making it 2-0. Jonathan Meyer capped the inning with a two-out single, scoring Domingo Santana for a 3-0 lead.

Santiago (3-3), settled down over the next couple of innings, but got touched for two in the fourth, then two more in the sixth, as he was chased after 5 1/3 innings, after allowing seven runs on nine hits.

The JetHawks got two more in the seventh against Freddie Cabrera, taking a commanding 9-0 lead.

After Trinidad (7-3) was removed to start the eighth, C.J. Retherford put the Quakes on the board with a two-out double against Brian Streilein, as he chased home Alexis Aguilar to make it 9-1.

Telvin Nash cracked his league-leading 21st homer in the bottom of the inning, giving the JetHawks a 10-1 advantage.

Rancho would cap the scoring in the ninth, as Chris Jacobs knocked in a pair with a two-run single, making it 10-3.

The Quakes (2-6, 39-39) will try to get things turned around on Friday night, sending Garrett Gould (1-6) to the mound against Lancaster's David Martinez (2-3) at 7:00pm.
