Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes notched their first win of the second half, earning an 8-2 win over the Bakersfield Blaze at The Epicenter on Friday night.

Brandon Martinez pitched four scoreless innings for the win, while Chris O'Brien led a 14-hit attack, going 3-for-4 with a season-high four RBIs.

The Blaze got a run off rehabbing Dodger Blake Hawksworth in the first, as Billy Hamilton reached on a bunt, stole second for his minor league-leading 83rd steal of the year, then scored on a ground ball to give the Blaze a temporary 1-0 lead.

It was all Quakes from there, as they got a run in the bottom of the second, then exploded for six in the fourth, taking the lead for good.

Tied at 1-1 in the fourth, Blaze reliever Chris Joyce (1-3) got into a bases-loaded one out jam. C.J. Retherford picked up his team-leading 53rd RBI of the year, walking with the bases loaded to give the Quakes a 2-1 advantage. O'Brien followed with a three-run triple, his second three-bagger of the year, breaking it open at 5-1. Jonathan Garcia followed with an RBI single, then later scored on an error, capping the six-run frame at 7-1.

O'Brien struck for his third and final hit in the fifth, driving home Retherford with a two-out single, making it 8-1.

The Blaze capped the scoring with a run in the ninth off Scott McGough, who left the bases loaded by striking out the final two hitters he faced.

Martinez (2-1) picked up the win in relief, firing four scoreless frames.

The Quakes (1-1, 38-34) will send Andres Santiago (3-1) to the mound on Saturday night, as they host the Blaze in the third game of the four-game series. Bakersfield will go with right-hander Daniel Renken (3-3), with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
