Rancho Cucamonga, CA - A late error played a huge role for a second straight night, as Visalia turned the tables on the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Friday night, holding on for a 5-4 win in front of 5,483, the largest Epicenter crowd of the year.

While the Rawhide gave a game away on Thursday with a two-out error in the ninth, it was the Quakes who committed a two-out crucial error in the seventh inning, allowing four unearned runs to score, as Visalia took the lead for good.

Quakes' starter Allen Webster, nursing a 2-1 lead into the seventh inning, gave up a one-out single to David Nick. After striking out Chris Owings for the second out of the inning, Webster was removed in favor of lefthander Jordan Roberts (2-1), who was called upon to face left-handed hitting Adam Eaton. Eaton kept the inning alive with a bloop-single, sending Nick to third. What followed was disastrous, as Matt Davidson's pop-up behind the mound was mishandled by first baseman Austin Gallagher, allowing Nick to score to even the game at 2-2. Bobby Borchering then followed with a two-run double, putting Visalia ahead to stay at 4-2. Keon Broxton then made it a three-run game, driving in Borchering with an RBI single to make it 5-2.

The Quakes got a run in the eighth and then threatened in the ninth against Visalia's Taylor Sinclair. Trailing 5-3 to open the inning, Gorman Erickson reached via walk and Travis Denker singled to put the tying runs aboard. With Rafael Ynoa at the plate, Erickson broke for third base on an 0-1 pitch. Ynoa, missed an attempted bunt and Erickson was throw out at third for the first out of the inning. Down in the count 0-2, Ynoa ripped an RBI double to left-center field, scoring Denker to make it 5-4. Sinclair rebounded to strike out pinch-hitter J.T. Wise, then got Nick Buss to pop up to end the game, giving him his second save of the year.

Visalia's Tyler Skaggs (3-3) earned the win, allowing three runs on five hits over seven-plus innings.

Quakes' starter Allen Webster took a no-decision, allowing two runs, one earned, over 6 2/3 innings.

Gorman Erickson hit his first homer of the year for the Quakes' a solo shot to left field in the fourth, putting Rancho up 2-1.

Now seven games up on High Desert in the South Division, the Quakes (26-16) will open a three-game series against Inland Empire on Saturday night. Andres Santiago (0-0) takes on former Quakes' righthander Kyle Hurst (2-1) at 7:05pm. Saturday night is Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by the Best Western Heritage Inn. The Quakes will be wearing special Military-style jerseys, which will be auctioned off during the game. Everyone will also enjoy a post-game Fireworks Show, thanks in part to KOLA 99.9 FM. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter...GO Quakes!
