Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - More than 4,000 fans watched the Quakes celebrate their annual July 3rd Fireworks Night with as many in-game fireworks as after the game, thanks to a 16-4 beating of the Visalia Rawhide on Sunday night at LoanMart Field.
The evening started fast, as after a Jordan Lawlar homer put Visalia up 1-0, the Quakes answered with an incredible ten-run first, taking the lead for good at 10-1 and helping to give Rancho a split of the six-game series.
Luis Diaz, who had four hits and four RBIs on the night, slugged a lead-off homer to tie the game in the bottom of the first, his tenth of the year. Yeiner Fernandez put Rancho ahead to stay with an RBI hit, scoring Jake Vogel to make it 2-1 against Visalia starter Liam Norris (0-4). Luis Rodriguez had a two-run single later in the inning and Damon Keith capped the frame with a three-run double, making it 10-1.
Rodriguez connected again in the fourth, this time with his seventh homer of the year, stretching the lead to ten at 11-1.
Visalia got just one run against Quakes' starter Orlando Ortiz, who allowed one run on four hits over four innings.
Rancho reliever Osvanni Gutierrez (1-0) gave up just one unearned run in two innings, securing his first win of the year.
Rancho plated five in the last of the eighth, as Diaz capped his huge night with a run-scoring single as part of the outburst.
Rancho (4-5, 40-35) will be in action on Monday, sending Peter Heubeck (0-0) to the mound, against Inland Empire's Jack Kochanowicz (0-3). Game time on Monday from San Bernardino is a special start time of 7:25pm.
The Quakes will be on the road for the week, before returning home to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, July 12th, when they host the Fresno Grizzlies in a special 11:00am Summer Camp Day. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
