
Quakes Lose to 66ers 6-1

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Rancho looked strong early as they got six hits in the first three innings against 66ers starter James Adkins and took a lead in the bottom of the third with a two-out RBI double by Mark Trumbo to take a 1-0 lead.
Kelvim Escobar went three innings of one hit ball for the Quakes, in his first rehab start coming off of shoulder problems, struck out four and didn't walk a batter.
Tommy Mendoza came in relief in the fourth and got out of a first and second, no out jam to hang on to the 1-0 lead.
In the 5th, Inland Empire got a one out walk and a single by Trayvon Robinson to put runners on first and third. After Robinson was caught stealing for the second out, Ryan Rogowski singled with two strikes to right field to tie the game 1-1.
The 66ers got two more runs in the 6th on two solo home runs, one by Carlos Santana and another by Drew Locke to take a 3-1 lead.
Rancho's offense was stalled after the 5th inning as they did not get a hit after Peter Bourjos' single to lead off the fifth inning.
Inland Empire added three runs in the 9th against major league rehabber Chris Bootcheck on three straight hits, an RBI triple by Justin Fuller, an RBI single by Robinson and an RBI fielder's choice by Rogowski to lead 6-1.
The Quakes will host the 66ers in game two of the four game set Tuesday night with Amalio Diaz on the hill for Rancho against Tim Sexton for the 66ers. Game time is scheduled for 7:05pm.
