Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

San Bernardino, CA - The Quakes downed the 66ers 7-3 Friday night on the strength of a strong pitching performance by Red Patterson (5-1). Patterson flashed some skill on the hill pitching seven strong innings while giving up two earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts. Patterson's sole blemish of the night came in the fourth inning when Kole Calhoun smashed a two-run home run.

66er's starter Manuel Flores (11-9) had a rough outing in front of his home crowd. Most of the damage came in the third inning when the Quakes were able to put a three spot on the board. Flores' final line was five runs (four earned) off eight hits in six innings of work.

Both Andrew Suiter and Logan Bawcom were able to stave off Inland Empires' offense long enough for the win. Suiter pitched a perfect eighth while striking out two. Bawcom closed out the game giving up one run on two hits in the ninth.

The Quakes scored all of their runs off of the bats of Wilberto Ortiz, Tony Delmonico, and Jaime Pedroza. The trio combined for seven RBI's on five hits, three of which went for extra bases. Ortiz even swiped a bag during his offensive onslaught. He would finish the day 3-4 raising his batting average to .302.

The Quakes (30-24, 68-56) will send Andres Santiago (7-4) to the mound Saturday night to face off against John Hellweg (5-4) in the second game of the four-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 in San Bernardino.

The Quakes will return to The Epicenter on Tuesday night, opening up a seven-game home stand. Tuesday night is another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday. Fans that bring ten CRV-eligible bottles or cans to the Quakes' Ticket Office will receive a FREE Club Seat to Tuesday's Game. Gates open at 6:05pm and game time is 7:05pm.
