Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Quakes got on the scoreboard first in game two of the four game series as Clay Fuller doubled and Andrew Romine had a bunt single to start the first inning. With one out and runners on first and third, Romine took off for second base, got caught in a rundown, and High Desert threw the ball wildly to second allowing Fuller to scamper home for the first run of the game.

Tim Kiely was brilliant for the Quakes through the five innings as he retired 13 of 14 at one point. The 6th was a different story as Kiely hit the first batter and allowed an RBI double to Edilio Colina to score a run and tie the game 1-1. After Kiely made an errant throw to second in a pick off attempt, Colina went to third and, with one out, Joe Dunigan singled to left to score Colina to grab a 2-1 lead.

The Mavericks added two more runs in the 7th on a bases load hit by pitch and a bases load walk to swell their lead to 4-1.

High Desert wasn't done as they score two more in the 8th on an RBI single by Alex Liddi and an RBI double by Ron Garth to go ahead 6-1.

Again, the Mavericks would score two runs in the 9th inning on an RBI double Joe Dunigan and an RBI single by Carlos Peguero to lead 8-1.

Donnie Hume was in control on the mound for High Desert for the entire game retiring the side in order in six of eight innings while striking out six. He ran into trouble with two outs in the 9th, however, as the Quakes put up a two out rally with RBI singles from Efren Navarro and Jeremy Moore before knocking Hume from the game. Stephen Penney would enter the game and strike out Hector Estrella to end the game 8-3 Mavericks.

Rancho will take on High Desert in game three of the four game series Sunday afternoon. The Quakes will have left hander Robert Fish on the mound against right hander Nathan Adcock. Game time is scheduled for 2:05pm.

The Quakes are the California League Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. For more information about purchasing tickets, please call the Quakes Ticket Office at (909) 481-5252 or order online at www.rcquakes.com.
