Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

No Over-time this week: The Steamwheelers recorded their third win of the season last week against the Albany Conquest and it was their first victory where they did not have to work overtime to earn it.

Quad City Streaks: Kris Peters extended his steak of at least one touchdown reception and 100+ receiving yards to five games ... Jack Walker Jr., has caught three touchdown passes in each of the past two games ... Tim Dodge has caught at least one receiving touchdown in the past four games.

Hicks Aiming for Records: Tim Hicks continues to set the pace in gunning for the af2's single-season passing yards record. The Steamwheelers quarterback currently has 2,737 passing yards and is only 1,752 yards away with seven games remaining.

Training for a new position?: If Tim Dodge ever decides to give up being a wide receiver he could possibly step in at quarterback. For the second game this season Dodge threw for a touchdown. His stats at the quarterback position are two completions on two attempts for two touchdowns and five yards, while holding a quarterback rating of 118.75.

Turnover Battle: For the second straight game the Steamwheelers defense has forced two turnovers. Quad City recovered a fumble and had a pick at Spokane and also versus Albany. The Steamwheelers also hope they have cleared up their plague of turnovers as they did not give up the football via a pick or fumble against the Conquest. Heading into last weekend's game the Quad City was tied for 22nd in the af2 with a -13 turnover margin. While they still have a lot of work to do in this category, this week the Steamwheelers has shown improvement standing alone in 20th place with a -11 margin.

Scouting the Wolves: D. Bryant is the fifth best quarterback in the af2 when it comes to pass completion percentage (64.6). He leads the second-best team in pass completions (223) and runs the sixth-best total offensive yard (2,266) team in the league, thanks in part to an offensive line that has given up only two sacks on the season. Bryant's favorite target is Steve Gonzales, who leads the af2 in total points with 196. Gonzales has caught 31 touchdown passes and has 957 yards receiving on 88 attempts. Manchester also boasts the leagues fifth-best rushing offense with 29.3 yards per game. The Wolves leading rusher is Mark Kimener, who has tallied 146 yards rushing on four touchdowns on 29 attempts. Kimener's 5.0-yards per rush average is the third-best in the af2. The two leading rushers only have six and eight rushing attempts respectively compared to Kimener's 29.

On defense the Wolves are ranked 12th in total defense (254.4) and fourth in the pass defensive rating category (90.1). William Haith and Ron Smalls are leading the team in tackles with 36.5 and 35.5 respectively. Haith leads the team in interceptions (4) and pass breakups (15), while Smalls is tied for second in interceptions with three and has a fumble recovery.
