
Quad City Defeats Iowa in Week Eight

Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
The Quad City Steamwheelers faced the Iowa Barnstormers as they hit the road to take on their Eastern Conference rivals on Saturday, May 6.
Quad City started with a QB EJ Hilliard missile to WR CJ Windham for the early score. PAT good, Wheelers 7-0.
QB Zach Reader's first pass attempt got ripped away from DB Darreon Jackson for the interception.
Capitalizing off the turnover, Hilliard connected with Windham again for six. PAT good, Wheelers 14-0.
The Barnstormers next series capped off with a Reader shuffle pass to RB Antonio Wimbush, touchdown. PAT good, Wheelers 14-7.
WR Mike Carrigan took the kick off return down to Iowa's one-yard line. RB Shane Simpson rushed in for the score. PAT good, Wheelers 21-7.
Quad City defense stood strong on fourth down, creating the turnover-on-downs.
Windham found himself with a touchdown hat trick all in the first quarter. PAT good, Wheelers 28-7.
The Steamwheeler defense continued the strong start by forcing a fumble recovered by DB Malik Duncan.
Needing to generate points off the turnover, Simpson walked into the endzone. PAT good, Wheelers 35-7.
Despite the long drive, Quad City shut down the possession and enforced a goal-line stand.
Backed up in their own end, Hilliard used both his legs and arm on the drive then added another rushing touchdown to the season. PAT missed, Wheelers 41-7.
Kicking off the next two quarters, Iowa botched the snap resulting in a backwards pass recovered by the Steamwheelers.
After a good starting position, Hilliard's swing pass was picked off by DB Dashawn Benton.
The Barnstormers put together a solid drive finished by a Reader pass to wide open WR Keshaun Taylor for the touchdown. PAT good, 41-14.
On fourth down, Hilliard found Carrigan by himself for six. PAT good, Wheelers 48-14.
K Chase Allbaugh scored the deuce on the kick off. Jackson intercepted the pass over the middle and took it to the house. PAT good, Wheelers 57-14.
Needing to generate a scoring drive, Reader scrambled in for the score.The two-point attempt was no good. Wheelers 57-20.
A failed onside attempt put Quad City just outside the red zone. QB Eric Mackey took the offensive reins. Field goal good, Wheelers 60-20.
Reader connected with WR LaQuvionte Gonzalez for the late touchdown score. The two-point attempt was good. Wheelers 60-28.
Mackey's pass attempt fell right into the hands of DB Freddie McGee III.
Iowa's offense got the score within the final seconds of the game to Wimbush. Quad City won with a final score of 60-34.
The Quad City Steamwheelers extend their record to 5-2 on the season.
