
Blizzard Fall to the Pirates in Overtime

The Massachusetts Pirates (3-2) handed the Green Bay Blizzard (2-4) a 50-49 loss in overtime on Friday night at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
The teams battled back and forth all night, with Massachusetts converting a walk-off two-point conversion to end the game.
Green Bay got on the board first with an eight-yard Shaq Currenton rushing touchdown.
Massachusetts answered with just over a minute to go in the first quarter, when Pirates QB Anthony Russo found WR Issac Zico for a touchdown.
On the first play of the second quarter, Currenton scored his second touchdown of the game, catching a laser from Blizzard QB Ja'rome Johnson in the back of the endzone.
Mass answered on a Thomas Owens rushing touchdown.
With 9:30 to go in the half, Raheem Harvey scored a hard-fought touchdown to put the Blizzard back in front, 21-14.
The Pirates scored two unanswered touchdowns to enter halftime with a 28-21 lead.
With less than five minutes gone by in the second period, Johnson rushed for a touchdown, tying the game at 28. This was the only score by either team in the third quarter.
Mass responded on a Russo rushing touchdown, but Johnson countered that by scrambling for a touchdown of his own, tying the contest at 35.
The Pirates went ahead by one score with just over seven minutes to play on another Russo to Zico touchdown.
With 35 seconds left in regulation, the Blizzard faced a do-or-die fourth down. Johnson found WR Marquise Irvin in the endzone, and K Logan Justus converted the extra point to tie the game at 42.
Massachusetts drove down the field in the final seconds, but K Josh Gable failed to make a field goal as time expired, sending the game to overtime.
The Blizzard got the ball first in the extra period and scored a touchdown on a Ja'rome Johnson rush.
Russo converted a QB sneak from the one-yard line on the Pirates' OT possession. Down one, Massachusetts decided to go for two. Russo found Zico in the endzone for the walk-off win.
