Quad City Riverhawks News Release
Quad Cities, IL. The ABA Quad Cities professional basketball team today announced the signing of its first two players for their Veterans Camp of 15-25 players starting November 1st. Both players were seen at the Quad Cities tryout camp in Napierville, Illinois.
Ameer Watts is a 5'10 strong combo/shooting guard who played at Rockford Christian Life High School and Division II Missouri Southern. Last spring, he played in the IBL with the Lake County Lakers. His strong 1 on 1 play and deep shooting touch impressed VP Basketball Ops/Asst Coach Acie Earl, owner Tom McGinn and Special Team Consultant Dorian Earl.
The other player named is Orlando Gulley, also from Rockford High School and a native of Jefferson. He attended Sauk Valley Community College. His athletic ability and hustle to make plays clearly stood out - despite being a 5'6 point guard.
Quad Cities will continue to search for local Iowa and Illinois talent with it future tryout camps coming up in Iowa City (Sep 2 - 12-330pm at Robert A. Lee Rec Center), Rockford (Sep 9 - 12-4pm at Patriot Gateway Center) and Davenport (Sep 23 - 12-4pm) at Davenport West YMCA. Cost is $100 if you pre-register with Dorian or Coach Early or $150 for walkups.
