QB Mike Mikolaichik Re-Signs With Raiders
January 7, 2008 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
Rochester Raiders News Release
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 7, 2008)- This morning the Rochester Raiders re-signed their 2007 starting quarterback Mike Mikolaichik, who played at the colligate level for Buffalo State via Hilton High School.
Mikolaichik was battling fellow Raider Omar Baker for the starting quarterback position during training camp before the 2006 inaugural season of the Raiders before he suffered a broken leg that caused him to miss the entire 2006 season and put his future of playing football in jeopardy. Mikolaichik silenced all the people who questioned if he was physically able to play again in 2007 when he stepped in part way through the season and took the reigns as the starting quarterback and led the Raiders to the 2007 Continental Indoor Football League.
"Mike is an extremely tough and talented individual," comments Raiders owner Bob Bartosiewicz, "He knows the game of football inside and out, which it truly important especially at the quarterback position and he is a true competitor and one of our leaders both on and off of the field."
Mikolaichik will have a number of weapons at his disposal for the 2008 season with signing of wide receiver Darryl Frager and running back Felix Joyner, both of whom played for the Port Huron Pirates during the 2007 season. Mikolaichik will also have fellow Section Five products Maurice Jackson and Jamil Porter back who were both named to the CIFL All-Pro First Team in 2007 as well as tighend Mike Kallfelz who was also named as a member of the CIFL All-Pro First Team in 2007.
The Raiders are scheduled to open training camp at the end of January with rookie camp that will include the players that have attended the three tryouts that have been held over the past couple of months. The veterans will report to camp in the beginning of February. The Raiders will kick off their 2008 season March 21 when they visit the Chesapeake Tide and will have their home opener at the Blue Cross Arena the following week March 29 against the Lehigh Valley Outlawz at 2:00pm. Season Tickets are currently on sale at the Blue Cross Arena and through Ticketmaster at a cost of $60 for the entire season, individual tickets will not be available until February and will be $15 per ticket.
