Pulaski Mariners News Release

Pulaski—The Blue Jays were baffled in Saturday night's 10-0 loss to the division leading Astros. Nothing seemed to go well for Pulaski on the field—weak pitching and multiple errors—or at the plate—failing to produce—while Greenville was just the opposite.

Danville won their game Saturday to put Pulaski a game and a half behind in the division race with only two games remaining.

With five players having multi-hit nights, the Astros produced throughout the entire game. Centerfielder Jose Hernandez was 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored. Superstar designated hitter Mitch Einertson, who is one homer short (24) of a single season home run record, came up big on his way to a 2-for-3 night scoring four times and driving in two RBI's. Although Einertson was hit once and nearly hit in seemingly every at-bat, he remained calm, nearly hitting a homer in the first inning with a double off the left field wall.

Greenville's pitching kept Pulaski to eight hits and struck out seven. Starter Juan Gutierrez (8-2) received the win and allowed five hits in six innings of work.

The Blue Jays hitting came from three players almost exclusively. Second baseman Emmanuel Sena, designated hitter Eugenio Velez and catcher Brian Bormaster put up two hits apiece in four plate appearances, none of which were for extra bases. Pulaski couldn't seem to get started and never put together a successful rally.

Pulaski starter Russell Savickas (1-5) was rocked early, giving up six earned runs from eight hits in his four and a third innings on the mound. He did however strike out four batters.

Pulaski attempts to turn things around in their home game Sunday night against the Astros.
