Public Safety Appreciation Night on August 27

Pearl, MS - On Monday, the Mississippi Braves will honor public safety officials at Trustmark Park for Public Safety Appreciation Night. Anyone wearing a public safety uniform, which includes police officers, fire fighters, EMS, etc., or showing a valid badge or business card will receive free admission to the evening's game for themselves and their family.

During the pre-game activities, the M-Braves will also honor Pearl Police Department and fallen hero Mike Walter as well as Officer Dave McCarley and Shawn Terwilliger who were injured in the line of duty on May 1st. All uniformed public safety officials in attendance will be invited down to the warning track during this ceremony to show support to the victims and families involved with the altercation.

On field will be Mike Walter's family and widow, Jennie Walters, who will be presented flowers out of remembrance to her late husband. The Pearl Police Department's Color Guard will be on the field to present the colors prior to the National Anthem. Pearl's Police Chief Ben Schuler, Fire Chief Carl Kibby, and Kathy Deer of Pearl's Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance to throw out the game's ceremonial first pitches.

Pearl's Chamber of Commerce will have a table set up on the concourse for donations and contributions to the officers' families affected by the tragedy.

In addition to the pre-game ceremonies, fans can enjoy $2 Monday. Cotton candy, roasted peanuts, Cracker Jacks, and 16 oz. fountain drinks will be $2 each throughout the game.

Football fans can enjoy the evening for Football Kickoff Night. Any fan wearing a college or NFL jersey can purchase Field Level Tickets for $5 each. Prizes will be awarded throughout the game for football trivia.

Lastly, it's Make a Difference Monday sponsored by Shoe Choo Train and Yogi on the Lake-Jellystone Park.

First pitch for the evening is schedule for 7:00 PM. The Mississippi Braves will face the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in game four of the five-game series. Gates for the night will open at 6:00 PM.
