Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

The Blue Wahoos have added a pair of prospect outfielders to start the second half of the 2018 Southern League slate. Jose Siri and TJ Friedl, the Reds #7 and #14 prospects respectively according to MLB Pipeline, have been transferred from Advanced-A Daytona to start the second half with the Blue Wahoos. In a corresponding move, OF Nick Longhi has been promoted to Triple-A Louisville. Additionally OF C.J. McElroy was placed on the disabled list with a concussion retro to June 16.

Friedl was one of eight Daytona Tortugas that were named to the Florida State League All-Star team. It was his second straight all-star selection after getting named to the Midwest League All-Star team in 2017. Friedl hit .294 with three home runs and 32 RBI with the Tortugas in 61 games. Although he went undrafted out of the University of Nevada, he was listed by Baseball America as the Reds "Best Defensive Outfielder" in 2016. He hit .289 combined over his first two seasons in the organization after posting the eighth-best batting average in school history at Nevada (.401 in 58 games).

Siri started the season on the disabled list but started hot once he returned in May with a .286 average for the month. Through 30 games on the season he has hit .261 with the Tortugas. Siri entered the season rated by Baseball America as the organization's best power hitter, fastest baserunner, best athlete and outfielder with the best arm. Last year, he was the Reds' Minor League Hitter of the Year after posting a .293 average with 24 home runs and 76 RBI. He led the Midwest League in runs (94), hits (146), triples (11) and stolen bases (46). He also produced a Dayton and Midwest League record 39-game hitting streak from 6/22-8/3 as part of an all-star summer.

Longhi was hitting .250 with the Blue Wahoos through 58 games with two home runs and a team-best 28 RBI. He's listed as the Reds' #18 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

Both Siri and Friedl are available in tonight's second-half opener against the Jackson Generals at the Ballpark in Jackson. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

Transaction Notice: OF Nick Longhi transferred to AAA Louisville; OF TJ Friedl and OF Jose Siri transferred from Advanced-A Daytona.
