The 1000 Islands Privateers are pleased to announce that Marc LeFebvre (Ottawa, ON) has accepted an offer for the position of General Manager and Head Coach of the 1000 Islands Privateers.
LeFebvre joins the Privateers following a successful nine year professional playing career that took him to Great Britain, Elmira, NY, France, and most recently, Holland. Prior to his professional career, Marc was a member of both the Sarnia Sting and the Ottawa 67's in the Ontario Hockey League.
"After a worldwide search, Coach LeFebvre possesses all of the qualities we were seeking for this position, mainly the connections to attract high level talent, the ability to place our players at higher levels, and the experience to lead this organization to a Federal Hockey League championship. It did not take long to realize that we share many of the same goals and visions for this team. I am excited and honored to have Marc LeFebvre on board", commented Team President, Nicole Kirnan.
When asked about this opportunity, LeFebvre commented, "I am very excited for this opportunity to lead the Privateers to an FHL championship this season and can't wait to get the season started. I have already started building a championship contender and our fans will be excited with the team that we are going to have here in Alexandria Bay. Bonnie Castle will be a tough rink for visiting teams to play in this season. Our team will not only be built on skill and speed but will also be the hardest working team in the league."
LeFebvre takes over a Privateers team coming off a 26-13-5 record and a third place finish in the Federal Hockey League standings in their inaugural campaign. During this off season, the Federal Hockey League has announced new franchises in Danville, IL, Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Wayne, New Jersey.
