Privateers' Offense Dominate Frenzy 10-5

The 1000 Islands Privateers took 10 skaters to Rome for a Federal Hockey League contest with the Rome Frenzy. They all landed on the scorecard as Alex Goupil's natural hat-trick and Tyler Fernandez's league-record six assists led the offense to a 10-5 victory before 200 at the JFK Civic Center.

Rome took the lead as Michael Maier opened scoring. Marcus Pryde tied the game unassisted and Nikita Poliakov gave the Privateers the lead with Brian Marks got the lone helper. Marcus Gustaffson re-tied the game and Tibor Varga gave Rome the lead. Justin Levac tied the game before the 1st period ended off a feed from Adam McAllister. James Kirkwood gave 1000 Islands the lead on the power play as Poliakov and Fernandez earned the assists. Anthony Monte tied the game but Fernandez set up Goupil to close second period scoring. Goupil scored his second to open the third off a pass from Ryan Pearson and completed the natural hat trick from Fernandez and Poliakov. Nucci closed the game to 7-5 but Kirkwood tallied his second power-play goal as Fernandez and Poliakov earned the assists again. Goupil and Fernandez assisted on Harry Mahesh's goal, and Fernandez took the FHL assist record as he set up Goupil's fourth goal of the night and his league-leading 34th of the season. Richard Sillery got the win, stopping 35 of 40 shots.

The Privateers are preparing for a weekend set with the league-leading Akwesasne Warriors. The teams play on Cornwall Saturday night and return to the Bonnie Castle Rec Center at 3 PM Sunday.
