March 1, 2012 - Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL)
Watertown Privateers News Release
The 1000 Islands Privateers lost the last regular season home game of 2011-2012 6-2 against the visiting Danville Dashers. The loss keeps the Privateers in second place, two ahead of Danbury.
While the Privateers got on the boardearly in the 1st with Brendan Baumgartners score at 1:13 ( Tibor Varga, Michael Jordan), Danville responded powerfully the rest of the period, notching three goals: Brad Townsend at 7:31(Justin Barr), Matt Cohn on the first of his hattrick three at 10:40 (James Brooks, Rob Schweyer), then Ryan Stern at 13:59 (Barr, Nolan Ryan) scored to get the 3-1 lead entering 1st intermission.
The break did little to invigorate the Privateers as Cohn got #2 on the night at 2:45 (Brooks). Eddy Martin Whelan did find rope for 1000 Islands at 17:17 in the 2nd (Alex Redmond, Jordan) to narrow the margin 4-2.
The 3rd saw plenty of Privateer shots, all to no avail as Dasher Cohn was the sole scorer at 2:20 (Brooks), completing the trick, and leaving the final at 5-2.
The Privateers face river rival Akwasasne both Friday and Saturday to finish out the regular season. They will play the first round of playoff games next weekend, March 9,10,11.
