Privateers Announce Playoff Schedule and Hockey Across America Involvement

As the 1000 Islands Privateers closed the regular season last Saturday with a 3-1 win over the Cape Cod Barons, the team sets sail for the inaugural league championship. The playoffs begin with best-of-5 series against their archrivals the Akwesasne Warriors. The series begins in Akwesasne on Thursday, February 24th at 7:30 PM. Game 2 is set for the Bonnie Castle Rec Center on Saturday the 26th at 7 PM. The series will return to Akwesasne the next night at 7:30 PM. If necessary, the Privateers will host game 4 at 7 PM on March 4th, while game 5 will be hosted by the higher seed on March 5th. Should the Privateers advance, the FHL Finals will start the week of March 14th, with dates and locations to be determined.

Before the playoffs begin, the Privateers will take part in ‚¬Å“Celebrating Hockey Across America Weekend ‚¬Â in Clayton, co-sponsoring the event with Thousands Islands Youth Hockey. Saturday the team will be officiating the River Classic Cross Ice Hockey Jamboree, featuring mite teams from across the North Country. Outside, the players will join fans of all ages in an outdoor pickup game of pond hockey. Fans can also pick up new Privateers merchandise, from individual and team pictures, to our new replica jerseys. The Privateers will be available for autographs throughout the day, so you can buy a picture of your favorite Privateer and he can sign it on the spot! The Jamboree starts at 8 AM while pond hockey is set to begin at 11 AM.

The 1000 Islands Privateers operate in Alexandria Bay and are a founding franchise in the Federal Hockey League. The Privateers play at the Bonnie Castle Recreation Center in Alexandria Bay. ‚¬Å“The future is now ‚¬Â in the Federal Hockey League as the top talent play professional hockey with a chance to advance their careers.
