Privateers Add 2 Key Players

Watertown Privateers News Release
WATERTOWN - The 1000 Islands Privateers have added some power and protection to its roster. Privateers head coach Paul Kelly signed forward Matt Alstoff and resigned goalie Peter Dundovich for the upcoming 2012-13 season.
Astoff comes to the Privateers after spending 2011-12 in the Federal Hockey League with the Brooklyn Aviators. And what it season it was, as the forward from Macomb, Michigan tallied 31 points in 31 games, before a late season injury ended Astoff's remarkable campaign.
Coach Kelly calls Astoff, who totaled 90 points in 99 career games at UMASS Boston, a 'top 6' forward that, 'possesses a great shot and is not afraid to mix it up in front of the net.' Kelly says he expects the goal-savvy Astoff to be a key contributor on the team's power play units.
While Astoff brings big point potential, from the forward position, Dundovich will provide backup protection in net. 'Dundo,' as coaches and teammates affectionately call him, is a returning member, having played in 5 games for the Privateers last season.
With goalie Matt Anthony already on the roster, Coach Kelly says the Privateers have, "a great one-two punch in the net." Character on and off the ice was another reason why Kelly wanted the Philadelphia, PA native back in a Privateers jersey.
The 1000 Islands Privateers are an 'A' level professional hockey team that competes in the Federal Hockey League. Entering into their third season, the Privateers begin their first year of play at the Watertown Fairgrounds Arena in Watertown, NY this season. The FHL is also home to the Danbury Whalers, Dayton Devils, Danville Dashers, Williamsport, and the Cap Cod Bluefins.
