(NASHUA, N.H., May 22, 2008) Nashua Pride catcher Luis Rodriguez was 2-for-6 on Thursday night against the Brockton Rox, including a two-out RBI single that scored Jerod Edmonson from second base to win the game in the bottom of the tenth inning at Historic Holman Stadium.

The Pride rallied from a six run deficits in the third and sixth innings to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth on a Bryan Duplissie RBI double, which plated Rodriguez who doubled to lead-off the inning.

Pride Starter Hideki Nagasaka lasted just three innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, before manager Rick Miller was forced to use the bullpen. Pride relievers, Jason Paul, Jarrett Stawarz, and Alex Piechowski combined to pitch seven innings, allowing just three hits and no runs to keep Nashua within reach.

Rox starting pitcher Rolando Viera saw his lead evaporate despite leaving the game having pitched five innings and allowing only two runs on three hits while striking-out four. Brockton closer Jerry Dunn came into the game with two outs in the eighth inning and a one run lead, but blew the save opportunity in the ninth.

Piechowski was the winning pitcher for the Pride. James Baker the loser for Brockton.

The Pride trialed by six runs entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but closed the gap after Duplissie led the frame off with a single. Rox righthander Matt Zachary picked up two quick outs before giving up a pinch hit single to Pride designated hitter Jeremy Pickrel. With runners on first and second, centerfielder Vinny Pennell singled up the middle to drive in Duplissie. Shortstop Sandy Almonte followed with an RBI double and Edmonson a base hit to knock in Pennell. Almonte scored on the play after a throwing error by Rox leftfielder Jud Thigpen.

The Rox had scored early and often on Nagasaka before he was lifted, plating six runs in the first three innings to take a 6-0 advantage. Melvin Falu and Francisco Lebron each homered for the Rox.

The Pride will host the Rox at Historic Holman Stadium again on Friday at 7:05pm. Lance Stevens is slated to start the game for the Pride, Mike McTamney for the Rox. The two teams will then move the series to Brockton's Campanelli Stadium for a pair of games to close out the series.
