New Jersey pitching turned in a superb performance on opening night as three pitchers combined for a two hit shutout of Ottawa. Starter Aaron Tressler allowed just one hit and one walk in six innings to earn the win. The Jackals offense got on the board in the second inning when they capitalized on two Ottawa errors and used singles by C Matt Lauderdale and DH Casey Gordon to go ahead 1-0. They added a run in the sixth on Ramon Nivar's solo homer and blew it open in the eighth when three more Ottawa errors and three hits produced four runs. 2B Marcus Sanders had a good night at the plate for New Jersey, finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Worcester 14, Sussex 5

Worcester's offense came out swinging as the Tornadoes piled up 17 hits in a 14-5 win over Sussex. C Alex Trezza, LF Francisco Caraballo, and 2B Jeff LaHair each homered, the Tornadoes scored multiple runs in four innings and Sussex was forced to use five pitchers in the contest. Worcester led from the outset scoring three times in the first inning. Sussex rallied for three runs in the home half of the seventh inning but the Tornadoes whipped up a six run eighth inning to put the game out of reach. Matt Weagle went five innings for his first victory of the year allowing two earned runs. 1B Chris Colabello had a stellar game offensively finishing 4-for-6 with a double and three runs scored. Four other Tornadoes players had multiple hits in the game.

Nashua 8, Brockton 7 (10 Innings)

HR: BR- Francisco Lebron (1) Melvin Falu (1) NSH - Sandy Almonte (1)

Nashua came back from deficits of 6-0 and 7-6 to defeat Brockton 8-7 in 10 innings. Francisco Lebron's first inning homer and five Brockton hits in the second inning put the Pride in an early 5-0 hole. Trailing 7-2 in the sixth inning with one man on and two out they strung together four consecutive hits including an RBI double by SS Sandy Almonte to get back in the game with four runs. They still trailed in the ninth when back to back doubles by C Luis Rodriguez and 1B Brian Duplissie plated the tying run. In the extra frame Adam Piechowski came on to pitch and set the Rox down in order. Nashua claimed victory when Rodriguez singled and RF Jerod Edmondson, who had walked and advanced earlier in the inning, scored from second base. Almonte finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.

The game between Atlantic City and Quebec was postponed due to rain. It will be played as part of a doubleheader on Saturday May 24, beginning at 5:35PM.
