Pride Swept in Series by Sussex; 7-5

(Nashua, N.H., August 17, 2008) The Sussex Skyhawks edged the Nashua Pride, 7-5, in front of 1573 fans at Historic Holman Stadium on Sunday night.

Sussex reliever Michael Laluna (2-1) earned the win in one and one-thirds innings of work. Skyhawks starter Justin Knoff did not factor in a decision going six innings, giving up three runs, on eight hits, three walks and two strike outs. Closer Matt Petrusek tied the league lead with his 19th save of the season.

Skyhawks' left fielder Alex Frazier led the way for Sussex going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI while shortstop Kevin Rios was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Pride reliever Brett Palanski (1-3) suffered the loss, pitching two-thirds of an inning and giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits. Pride starting pitcher Matt O'Brien had a no-decision, going six and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs, on eight hits, three walks and four strike outs.

At the plate for the Pride, designated hitter Ismael Castro went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI while catcher Mike Torres drove in a pair of runs and finished the game 2-for-3. Nashua first baseman Bryan Duplissie ended his night a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

The Pride will enjoy an off-day Monday before taking a trip to Canada on Tuesday to open up a three game set against the Ottawa Rapidz at 7:05pm. Nashua is scheduled to send Jason Paul (3-4) to the mound for the first game of the series.
