Pride Fall To 'Fish, 5-2

Nashua, NH- The Nashua Pride lost their contest against the Bridgeport Bluefish 5-2 tonight behind a three-hit performance from Bluefish pitcher Tim Cain in front of 913 fans on a cold June evening at Historic Holman Stadium.

After a scoreless first two innings the Bluefish struck first when Gustavo Escobar led off with a walk against Pride starting pitcher Juan Pena and was then driven in by a Rolo Avila double. Still with no outs, Charles Alley stepped up to the plate and ripped a double into the outfield plating Avila.

The Bluefish again added to their lead in the top of the 5th making the score 4-0. But the Pride bats began to come alive in the bottom of the inning when Carlos Rodriguez hit a towering homerun over the left field wall. Rodriguez also had 2 of the Pride's 3 hits on the night, while Ricardo Cordova had the other.

Pena took the loss for the Pride (0-2) while allowing 4 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings. Cain improved to 3-1 on the year with a three hit, one run effort while striking out 4 in eight innings.

The Pride and Bluefish play the rubber match of their series tomorrow night at Holman Stadium at 6:35. Tomorrow nights pitching matchup will feature Nate Teut (1-2, 6.46, LHP) against Brian Langen (1-2, 0.82 LHP).
