Pride Double Downed by Skyhakws; 5-0, 7-3

(Nashua, NH) The Nashua Pride was dropped in both games of a double header against the Sussex Skyhawks, 5-0 and 7-3, in front of 1946 fans at Historic Holman Stadium on Saturday.

Sussex's starting pitcher in game one, Matt Salvato (9-3), was dominant, pitching a complete game (seven innings) shut-out while giving up just three hits and striking out six on the way to a victory. Game two starter Gary Galvez (4-5) pitched five shut-out innings against Nashua and gave up just two hits while striking out six for the win.

Skyhawks' center fielder Ron Perodin paced the Sussex offense, knocking in a pair of runs in each game and finished the night a combined 3-for-8 with a double. Second baseman Chris Brown belted a grand slam in game two for the Skyhawks, his only hit of the double header.

Pride starting pitcher in game one, Lance Stevens (6-6), suffered a loss, giving up two runs in four and two-thirds innings. Game two starter Isaac Burkett (3-4) also took a loss lasting four-plus innings, allowing five runs.

Pride designated hitter Chris Torres went 1-for-3 in game two with a double and a pair of RBI while third baseman Argenis Tavarez went 2-for-3 with a double and the only other Nashua RBI of the night.

The Pride and Skyhawks will conclude their three game series on Sunday, at 5:05pm, when Nashua sends Matt O'Brien (1-1) to the mound against Sussex's Justin Knoff (3-0).
