
Pride Collapse in Seventh, Fall to Brockton 12-9

(NASHUA, N.H., May 23, 2008) The Nashua Pride blew a five run lead in the seventh inning, when the Brockton Rox sent 13 hitters to the plate and scored eight runs to take the lead and eventually go on to win, 12-9, in from of 2,096 fans at Historic Holman Stadium.
Pride catcher Luis Rodriguez carried over his hot bat from Thursday's walk-off win and went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI to lead the Pride offense. Nashua center fielder Jeremy Pickrel also homered and drove in three runs for the Pride in the loss.
Rox pitcher Ryan Williams earned the win, going two innings in relief, allowing one run on no hits, and striking out two batters. Mike McTamney, who started the game for Brockton, lasted just four innings, giving up seven runs on ten hits.
Pride pitcher Jarrett Stawarz suffered the loss, recording just one out after facing five batters and allowing four runs on four hits. Reliever Michael Joyce, who started the seventh inning on the mound, gave up four runs on three hits and hit a batter without recording an out. Lance Stevens started the game and pitched four and one third innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and striking out four.
The Pride will travel to Brockton tomorrow afternoon, when the series shifts to Campanelli Stadium for a pair of games against the Rox. Nashua's Nicolas Suero is slated to be start on the mound for the visitors. Wayne Lundgren will be the starter for Brockton.
The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, entering its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions will be participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
