Pride Clip Capitales in Twelve Innings; 8-5

(Quebec, QU, August 29, 2008) The Nashua Pride outlasted the Quebec Capitales, 8-5, at Stade Municipal on Friday night.

Pride first baseman Bryan Duplissie had the game winning RBI double in the twelfth inning, and finished the game 1-for-5. Center fielder Ervin Alcantara went 3-for-6 in the game with a home run and two RBI. Designated hitter Edgard Clemente and left fielder Vinny Pennell each also drove in a run for the Pride.

Pride starter Jason Paul (4-5) also did not factor in a decision with the start, going six and one-third innings, giving up four runs, on seven hits, two walks and two strike outs. Rookie right hander Sean Heimpel (1-0) notched his first professional victory, pitching a perfect 11th inning. Adam Piechowski earned his 4th save in the 12th.

Capitales' starting pitcher Luis Valdez (9-4) did not factor in a decision, going seven innings, giving up four runs (three earned) , on eight hits, one walk and two strike outs. Reliever Mark James (4-2) suffered the loss, giving up three runs on four hits in the 12th inning.

Quebec first baseman Eddie Lantigua led the Capitales offense going 2-for-6 with three RBI, while teammate Pat Deschenes and Goffrey Tomlinson each had a RBI.

The Pride and Capitales will play again on Saturday night, at 7:05pm, when Nashua sends John Tesseyman (0-1) to the mound against Quebec's Orlando Trias (8-6).
